Directed by Ben Stiller. First of all the amount of future stars in this film is dizzying. I really liked what Stiller did here. He took mediocre material, and used the camera to make it interesting. The pratfalls are all predictable and you see them coming, but the pace of the story and the camerawork by Robert Brinkman kept me interested. Robert did Rules of Attraction which makes a lot of sense (also I just watched half of that the other day). Both films utilize camera work to make mundane material pop on the screen.
I get the feeling the camera is actually sympathetic to Jim Carey’s character. Which is a smart move since without his point of view his character is almost unbearable. From what I could tell the message of the film was you should let movies raise your child not television.
