Directed by Terence Young. So this was the second one in the series. First thing I noticed was they actually attempted to show Bond to be a compentant agent, like with this scene checking the hotel room:
My favorite sequence takes place in the Hagia Sophia. Great use of shadows during the cat and mouse game Bond plays. And it starts out with this shot really emphasizing the scale of the building:
Plenty of long shots with the shadows in full view giving these scene a noir feel, a little darker than the rest of the film. This also fits along with a the chess motif established earlier in the film. The tiny pieces (Bond Tatiana) moving with caution around the board (Hagia Sophia).
Unfortunately there wasn't much else that stood out. I’m surprised at how subdued it this one was, not enough wackiness for my taste.
An aside:
I can’t watch Bond films without thinking of Archer, so the whole train sequence made me think of Archer's train episode. Also the way Bond and Tatiana had to pretend to be husband and wife as Lana and Archer have done multiple times.
